What are the top five most expensive artworks sold in September 2022? Even though September had major sales, they lack fireworks. Nevertheless, it gave some reliable outcomes for staples across worldwide auction houses. Willem de Kooning’s abstract piece Untitled from 1964 sold for $4 million. In that way, the painting doubled its highest estimate, from $1.7 to $2.5 million.

 

1. Wen Jia and Robert Pattinson’s Attribution

Robert Pattinson tried on the Role of mild-mannered Curator. As a result, he enjoyed picking works by all-star artists for a Sotheby’s sale. Three of his selections made the month’s top lots list. But one painting got special attention, being one of the most expensive artworks sold in September 2022.

 

That is Wen Jia’s the vertical axis of the Yanbin map of Wenjia Caoge. The estimated price was 12 million to 18 million CNY ($1.7 million to $2.5 million). But the painting’s final price was 28.2 million CNY ($3.9 million). The time and place of an auction: Holly’s International Auctions Co., Ltd., Guangzhou, China, September 23, 2022.

Willem de Kooning’s Untitled painting includes Robert Pattinson’s choice for the live Sotheby’s New York auction, September 30. The estimated price for the painting was $1.8 million to $2.5 million. In the end, the painting sold for $4.16 million at Sotheby’s New York, September 30, 2022.

Tyreb Mehta has once again landed among the top lots of the month. The estimated painting price was INR 210 million to INR 260 million ($2.6 million to $3.2 million). Nevertheless, the painting sold out for INR 253 million ($3.09 million) at AstaGurua in Mumbai on September 26th, 2022.

The painting’s estimated worth was from $800,000 to $1.2 million. It sold for $1.9 million at Sotheby’s New York, September 30, 2022. This includes Robert Pattinson’s choice for the live Sotheby’s New York auction, September 30.

The estimated price for the painting was JPY 180 million to JPY 280 million ($1.26 million to $1.9 million). It sold for JPY 257.7 million ($1.8 million) at New Art Est-Ouest Auctions, Tokyo, September 24, 2022.
